Ornamental paintings, carved cement, and woodwork

During five years, the Pureland artists have carved and painted the ornamental details of the structure in good weather and bad, day and night. These, as much as the architecture, give it its splendid appearance.

The Bhutanese and Nepali master artists have trained sangha artists in the detailed painting techniques—techniques that require tedious repetition the same sequence of brushstrokes, day after day, month after month. In the end, the capability to paint the ornaments requires enormous patience and that patience comes from faith in the Pureland vision.
